Our Purpose

The Order of the Knights of Rizal is a civic and patriotic organisation devoted to studying, teaching, and living the ideals of Dr. José Rizal. The New York Chapter carries that mission into the Filipino-American community of the city — through lectures and commemorations, youth and education programmes, service to the community, and the annual observance of Rizal Day on the thirtieth of December.

This Project

Dr. José Rizal — The First Filipino is an educational tribute site published by the chapter. It gathers his biography, chronology, writings, and legacy into one place for students, teachers, and the diaspora, presented in the visual idiom of the decade in which he lived and died.

The historical material here is compiled and written anew from public biographical and encyclopedic records. Readers seeking primary documents are encouraged to consult the published editions of Rizal's correspondence and the collections of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Get in Touch

Enquiries about membership, speaking engagements, school programmes, and Rizal Day observances are welcome from the Filipino community of New York and from all who honour the hero's memory.
